Hi there, I (Jackie) am the Technical Recruiter here at Marchex Inc., which is an online advertising and search company.

We’re an open source development company, about 400 people, 5 offices in the U.S., headquartered here in Seattle, and this role is for the Search team. Although this role doesn’t specifically require PHP we do use LAMP technologies in house, and is a desired skill set since our development teams are very flexible and allow for movement depending on in house expertise we could use on a particular project.

Product technologies:
• Rails/MySQL/Lucene/Java -- it’s a search product, java style application environment, and you’ll work on multiple products using these technologies.
• Opportunity to dive in, contribute, and teach us new things immediately; it’s a big teaching/sharing knowledge environment

Your Qualifications
Here is what will get you in the door, the more you have the better!
• BS degree in a Computer Science or equivalent experience.
• 5+ years experience in software development.
• Fluency in more than one language such as Perl, Ruby, Java, Python, C.
• Experience with search engine technology is a big plus!
• Ability to be flexible and adapt to rapidly changing company and project needs.
• Understanding of OO design, algorithms, data structures, networking, database design & optimization.
• Extensive experience with database design and optimization
• Proven ability to quickly learn new technologies.
