Two great topics!

1) Ian M. is presenting on Xdebug -- a great (and free) local and/or remote debugger
- great stand-alone or inside an IDE (ex. NetBeans, Eclipse, VIM, Notepad++, and more... )

2) Mike K. is presenting on Smarty -- a 'template engine' (or as they like to call it, a 'template/presentation framework')

Good stuff, good presenters!

Object Oriented Programming Study Group #3

1pm at Neptune Coffee (http://www.neptunecof...) A table is reserved 'in the back' (thanks Jeremiah!!).

"Contact Form" from last meeting is finished (see it at: https://docs.google.com/Doc?docid=0AZZDi2_kGFeCZGdoNHM2dzhfMWQ4NXZxbWNj&hl=en) with some notes, too! Thanks to all who contributed to make this script better, more consistent with today's best practices, etc.)

This week (week #3), we'll be looking at taking data from a database and putting it into an Object for typical C.R.U.D. type stuff

See the notes on the Message Board (here) to give input and direction to where this meeting goes (per our discussion at the Oct 11 meeting)

Not sure if the VNC 'workspace' will be available, but do check-out the mainly-stand-alone VNC Viewer (clinet) links below in case we do have the VNC 'workspace' set up again.

Windows no-install (standalone) viewer example: http://www.tightvnc.com/download.php
Mac no-install (standalone) viewer example: http://www.realvnc.com/products/enterprise/4.5/install_mac.html#standaloneviewer
Linux -- check your favorite repository for, most likely, a myriad of VNC clients/viewers!

** NEW TIME ** --> moved from 11am to 1pm

1pm at Neptune Coffee (http://www.neptunecof...) A table is reserved 'in the back' (thanks Jeremiah!!).

We will be 'finishing' the Contact Form we started (click here to see it in-progress). If we get time, we'll probably start on database/table activities (C.R.U.D. type stuff).

Please download some kind of VNC Client (no need to install a server) for this meeting - we're going to try a collaborative VNC session

Object Oriented Programming Study Group

First meeting! 11am at Neptune Coffee (http://www.neptunecoffee.com/location.php) A table is reserved 'in the back' (thanks Jeremiah!!).

This meeting will let us get to know each other and find out what we need. Please come read to talk about:
- your experience, to-date, with Objects/Classes
- if you have done any OOP work, what are your current roadblocks/stuck-points
-- bring some of your OOP work, especially if it represents where you're having trouble

If you cannot make this meeting, but plan on attending in the future, please email David with your 'responses' to the above topics (mailto:emailthedavid@gmail.com)

Office Nomads (our host) and Expression Engine are hosting the October 1 Meetup
That means, food and drink. That means getting a Sneak Peak at Expression Engine before it hits it's road-show the next day.

Expression Engine (http://expressionengine.com) is a CMS system that runs on CodeIgniter. Not only is it a CMS worth checking out, it is another example of using CodeIgniter. This night, we'll get to talk to the Expression Engine developers directly... with free food in hand!

Point of record, there will be some other folks at this gathering which should make for even better networking, socializing, learning, etc.
