It appears the term Open Technology Group" is a trademarked term (to my PHP instructor's company, no less). I received a email this morning explaining the infringement and a request to change our group's name to correct this infringement.

Needless to say the change has been made. Another learning experience. BEFORE using any specific terms on your or your clients website you need to check for any trademark infringements you could be using.

Another lesson learned in our Internet Society!!

Okay... so the phrase 'Open Technology Group' has been trademarked... hmm! How odd that a company striving to spread open technologies would not just trademark but disallow a small group of people trying to better a community from using those words within (not solely) there group name. I may be old fashion, but how can they morally spew the 'Open' agenda yet not be open themselves. Just something I am going to have to ponder for a long while. Well my 2 cents just ran out... RANT! :D
