The Toronto PHP Meetup Group Message Board › Creating Online Help for PHP Applications

I'm a technical writer working with a crew of developers who create our cross-platform web-based application in PHP. They have been hard-coding help information into their application, and I would like to see us do something fancier that is context sensitive and can include breadcrumbs, browse sequences, reader feedback, Flash videos, search, indexes, etc. I am an experienced user of both RoboHelp and WebWorks Publisher with C++ applications, but I know little about PHP.
Can anyone suggest what Help format is the best one to use for creating and managing the Help files efficiently and well and what the developers need to do to hook into my Help topics -- or what I need to do to hook my Help files into their coded pages. I presume that Web Help or Web 2.0 Help (using Adobe Air) would be the best way to go to achieve compatibility with Windows, Mac, and Linux. Can anyone confirm this and provide me with the magic programmer words I need to explain this to my developer colleagues? |
