SF PHP Meetup Mar 2008 - Zend Framework 1.5--Latest Features
Meeting Description
Organized by
- Michael Tougeron
Details
In this talk, ZF's development manager (Wil Sinclair) and Zend chief evangelist (Bradford Cottel) will present the new features and benefits of this free & open-source web framework for PHP programmers and tell you enough to get you started if you're new to it or to answer some of your questions if you're already using it. BTW, it's the only PHP framework to have been selected as a finalist for the Jolt Award for Libraries, Frameworks, and Components. In future meetings, we may be able to get Brad and/or Wil to come back and talk about Zend's other development tools too and how they work with ZF.

"What about keeping the scheduled talks short and leaving time for folk to meet, talk and discuss what's currently important to them?" -
Duane
"I enjoyed the talk and I'm glad to get a good look at 1.5 of ZF. But I do have two comments. 1 - It seems like the audience was looking for a more technical code-heavy presentation. 2 - Given the importance of this presentation (PHP Meetup in the heart of San Francisco, in this business climate) it would have probably been a good idea not to double book the presenters for today. These guys were tired, and it showed. I don't fault the presenters, just I think booking two presentations for one day was inadvisable." -
Michael
"Good presentation, I learned what I needed." -
Leon Atkinson
"Good topic, but the presentation went on a little long. When it was over, I didn't have much time to chat before I had to head home." -
Ian Shields
"Fun! Organizers, speakers, and attendees all a cheerful and helpful bunch." -
Jukka-Pekka Vainio
"very informative. I got the answers I needed." -
Tilman
"With a room full of people where more than 50% of the people already use Zend Framework, there is no need to preach to the converted. And I knew more about how Zend_Form works already by spending 5 minutes with the documentation, which the speaker apparently even hasn't. Less selling, more info please." -
David Fast
"My first PHP Meetup. Excellent subject matter, very good presentation, good venue. Great opportunity to meet knowledgeable people. Finding venue and parking was easy. Will be back for more." -

"great persons speaking; but a bit too much "advertising" flair, more implementation examples would have been great nevertheless -> great I just knew small German user group meeting, its really another dimension here, thanks a lot (also for tshirt, chips, coffee and coke ;))"
